Bonhams & Butterfields To Auction Personal Items Of Hollywood Celebrities

Bonhams & Butterfields in Los Angeles is putting up personal items from Hollywood Celebrities for auction. The auction house opens today for public preview, while sales will take place on 20 April. Although the auction is taking place in California, collectors can place bids from the New York gallery.

The most important items in the collection are letters and contracts from Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. It also features rare manuscripts, personal letters and photographs signed by the most notable Hollywood celebrities. Catherine Williamson, director of fine books and manuscripts for the auction house, says that more than 600 documents offering a peep into the personal lives of distinguished Hollywood celebrities are on display.

Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe items plus letters written and signed before the Hollywood celebrities got their big break in the industry are expected to bring in the highest bids. The auction collection also holds a variety of film contracts signed by Hollywood celebrities like Greta Garbo, and correspondence between them and their directors.
