While the majority of Americans no longer believe that Jews control Hollywood, a new poll released by the Anti-Defamation League that suggests there remains a widespread conviction that there is an organized campaign by Hollywood and the national media to undermine religious values. This finding contradicts not only the prevailing myth, but also a 1964 survey in which half of the respondents agreed that Jews controlled Hollywood.
Many Americans believe that censorship of Hollywood is acceptable. According to the ADL survey, American Attitudes on Religion, Moral Values and Hollywood, 59% Americans agree that Hollywood does not share the religious and moral values of most Americans. In fact nearly half of those surveyed believe that the United States is becoming "too tolerant in its acceptance of different ideas and lifestyles".
